Bespoke Ramp Design

Every official quotation includes a depiction of the bespoke ramp in its intended location. Our team generates all these ramp illustrations internally on the latest CAD software.

Based on our extensive experience, we have found that making any required alterations during the design phase is significantly more cost-effective than doing so once the ramp is already installed on-site.

Custom Powder Coated Colour

Rapid Ramp default colour is black, but you have the flexibility to select a customised colour that aligns with your needs. All we need is your RAL colour code, which can be found on a colour chart.

Walkway Surface Options

  • Standard Mesh Surface – This is the default platform for our Rapid Ramp System. This walkway features self-draining expanded metal holes, enabling water to pass through rather than accumulate and potentially freeze on the surface. It is crafted from rustproof galvanised steel, a process that involves applying a protective zinc coating to prevent rusting and moss growth.

  • Rubber Crumb Surface - This soft and slip-resistant surface minimises the impact of falls. It's constructed from materials akin to those used in soft play areas, making it an ideal choice for environments like nurseries, schools, and public facilities. Additionally, it's suitable for use by dogs, as the cushioned surface provides protection for their paws and claws against impact.

  • GRP Surface - GRP (Glass Reinforced Plastic) offers a slip-resistant and non-corrosive surface. Its smooth texture is well-suited for small wheels often found on trolleys and suitcases used in places such as airports and shops. Moreover, it's designed to withstand exposure to all types of weather conditions.

Meeting Building Regulations

If you require approval from building control authorities, the ramp must meet specific standards outlined in Part M and K of the Building Regulations. Here are some examples:
  1. When it comes to a residential ramp approved through the council, it must maintain a gradient no shallower than 1:12 (equivalent to 4.7 degrees) and have a minimum width of 900mm, as mandated by Documents M and K of the Building Regulations.
  2. For ramps to buildings other than dwellings, they must be designed to fully adhere to a minimum width of 1500mm and should aim to achieve a gradient of 1:15. Additionally, a 1:20 gradient is often specified in some cases and certain compliant features must be incorporated e.g.  Infill Handrails, Yellow Tread and 100mm High Handrail.
