A temporary classroom block was planned for installation in the campus car park, elevated approximately 400 mm above ground level.

To ensure safe and independent access for all users — including those using wheelchairs and mobility aids — accessible entry was required at both the side and front entrances.

The project manager chose our modular ramp system for its demountable design, rapid installation, and reusable components, delivering a flexible and sustainable solution.

A timber ramp, by comparison, would have been a single-use system with longer fabrication and installation timelines.

Once the building had been installed, we conducted a full site assessment, performing a RapidScan to capture all visible features, including walls, entrances, thresholds, ground levels, and nearby obstacles.

Our design team then overlaid a 3D model of the ramps onto the scans, carefully planning around any obstacles.

The final 2D plans and 3D models, along with the quotation, were submitted to the project contractor for approval prior to installation.

 The detailed drawings proved invaluable during discussions with the university’s key decision-makers.

Installation was completed during a week in the summer holidays to minimise disruption and ensure the ramps were ready for use ahead of the start of the new academic year.

At the end of the hire period, the ramps will be efficiently dismantled and returned to our warehouse for storage and reuse on future projects - maximising resource efficiency and minimising waste.

The University’s team involved in the project was very pleased with the finished ramps, which blended well with the modern campus environment while providing safe, compliant access for all users.
