Every Christmas, Royal Mail experiences a significant increase in parcel volumes as customers send gifts and purchase presents online for the festive season. This seasonal surge places additional pressure on delivery operations, requiring extra resources and temporary facilities to help manage the increased demand and ensure parcels are processed and delivered efficiently.

To support its operations during this busy period, Royal Mail required a temporary ramp solution that could accommodate the additional movement of mailroom trolleys and staff. The ramp needed to provide a strong, safe and reliable access route while allowing the site to continue operating efficiently throughout the festive peak.

Drawings were prepared by our in-house designer and provided to the client alongside the quotation.

The ramp provided a safe access solution, with a tested load capacity of 1,000 kg, suitable for pedestrians and the mailroom trolleys.

The system was installed in just one hour and was ready for immediate use, minimising disruption to site operations during the busy holiday peak.

The system's feet were securely fixed to the concrete surface for added stability.

At the end of the two-week hire, the system was dismantled and removed, leaving the site in its original condition.

Unlike permanent concrete ramps, our solution requires no curing time and avoids weather-related construction delays. Its quick installation and straightforward removal made it ideal for the client's temporary access requirement.

The strength of our modular ramp was demonstrated in a 24-hour load test using our widest metal platform, measuring 1,500 mm. A total of 1,001 bricks were evenly distributed across the surface, with no signs of splitting or deformation to the platform or handrails.

When correctly installed, the system has a safe loading capacity of 1,000 kg and can accommodate pedestrians, mobility scooters, manual and powered wheelchairs, pushchairs, shopping and luggage trolleys, hospital beds (including bariatric beds), heavy medical equipment and bicycles.
