A RAMP TO OVERCOME PIPES AND CABLING

Application
Public Building
Location
Lorry Park, Kent
System
Standard Ramp System
Service Package
Rapid Rental

BACKGROUND & REQUIREMENT:

This park delivers customs and document checks on cross-channel lorries.

The external cabling and pipework were physical barriers blocking wheelchair user access to the welfare cabins and offices.

A ramp was needed to sit over the items.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

CAD and technical drawings were created by our specialist designer in-house.

END RESULT:

Once the pipes and cabling were in place, a temporary ramp was installed over the items within an hour.

The ramp was designed with a 1:12 gradient to provide sufficient height.

Once no longer required, the ramp components will be dismantled and stored in our warehouse, ready to be reused on other ramp hire projects.

FEATURES INCLUDED:

  • Mesh Platform - self-draining mesh allows water to pass through rather than collect on the surface.
  • Trombone Ends - these are added to the ends of a Rapid Ramp to prevent clothes catching.
  • Telescopic Legs - these can be adjusted to accommodate different threshold heights.
  • Mesh Platform - the self-draining mesh allows water to pass through rather than collect on the surface.
  • Standard Colour Black - ramps are powder-coated black to create a hard finish that is tougher than conventional paint.
  • Standard Handrail - this handrail system is designed to be grasped by the hand, to provide stability or support.

Access ramp hire:

Temporary Rapid Ramps and steps are available for long or short-term hire.

Once no longer needed, our installers will remove the system, leaving the area in its original condition.

The minimum hire period applies, and the rental duration is flexible (more details available on application).  >>Further information on ramp hire<<

Examples of physical barriers for disabled

Physical barriers can include steps, stairways, kerbs, exterior surfaces and paving, parking areas, building entrances and exits (including emergency escape routes), internal and external doors,  gates, toilets and washing facilities, public facilities, external pipes and cabling.

The Equalities Act does require employers, local authorities, schools, and service providers to make reasonable adjustments for disabled people by removing barriers that could stop individuals from accessing goods and services. >Further information  on The Equalities Act 2010<
