REQUIREMENT:

Hackney Housing identified a need to improve accessibility to the building, the existing ramp was wooden and did not meet the latest compliance standards, limiting safe access for residents with mobility challenges.

DESIGN PHASE:

During the site assessment, we conducted a RapidScan of the area, capturing all visible features, including the building and variations in ground levels.

Our design team then overlaid a 3D drawing of the ramp onto the RapidScan model, carefully planning around any obstacles.

The design integrates seamlessly with the existing concrete path, with pads and edges aligned to maintain continuity across the ground.

Provisions were also included for the manholes identified, with access hatch sections allocated within the ramp design.

The final 2D plan and 3D model, along with the quotation, were submitted to the housing team for approval prior to installation.

END RESULT:

Our fitters installed the access system within an impressive five-day turnaround time, with one of those days dedicated to laying the GRP surface.

Once the installation was complete, the ramp was ready for immediate use—significantly improving accessibility for residents and visitors to the estate.

This project forms part of ongoing efforts to enhance safe, inclusive access across Hackney’s housing developments.

Our modular system is not only quick to install but can also be reconfigured or extended to suit future layout changes—something that traditional concrete or wooden ramps cannot offer.

With being fully reusable and adaptable, it provides a sustainable, long-term solution for the community.
