Abingdon and Witney College

A modular building scheduled to be assembled during the summer holiday had to be accessible for students, staff, and visitors of all abilities.

 The chosen ramp system had to comply with the Disability Discrimination Act and Part M of the Building Regulations.

These were produced internally, utilising the architectural drawings supplied by the client.

After the construction of the building was completed, we implemented a fully compliant Rapid Ramp, including a step unit at the front entrance.

Our proficient team successfully completed the installation within a few days of the summer holiday.

FEATURES INCLUDED:

•  Infill Handrail - This product safeguards against users climbing or falling through gaps.
• Yellow Tread - A safety feature designed to help those with impaired vision identify the system's nose and any level changes.
• Trombone Ends - Installed at the ends of a Rapid Ramp to prevent clothes from snagging.
• Mesh Platform - Self-draining mesh allows water to pass through, preventing surface accumulation.
• Continuous Handrail - This handrail system ensures that users always have a support to hold onto.
• 1100mm High Rail - these handrails attach to any level sections.
• Standard Colour: Black - Our ramps boast a powder-coated black finish, ensuring durability beyond typical paint.
• Adjustable Telescopic Legs - These can be adapted to suit various threshold heights.

EXTRA FEATURE INCLUDED:

• Fully Compliant Step Unit - The perfect companion to any ramp setup, delivering the necessary access for able-bodied users. They can also function as standalone units, operating independently of the Rapid Ramp System.

Installations are flexible and planned around the specific needs of each school.

Often installers will work during the holidays to accommodate around the teaching timetable.

Alternatively, installations during term time hours are just as achievable, and our team are fully DBS checked (formerly CRB), which covers working with children and vulnerable adults.
