Why Do I Need Steps With Handrails?

We offer two variations of our modular step systems, each includes handrails.

The Standard Step System

Our standard step system is designed for residential and temporary applications. The system includes acceptable standards of provisions to prevent falls, collisions, and injuries within a dwelling setting.

Standard handrail comes included. Infill handrail is also available as an optional extra. The product prevents users from climbing or falling through gaps 

The Fully Compliant Step System

This step system fully adheres to DDA regulations, BSI: Standards, and Documents M and K of the Building Regulations.

It is designed with the highest standard of provisions to prevent falls, collisions, and injuries in public settings such as schools, hospitals, shops, and offices.

Step Handrail Regulations

• They must be slip-resistant and have a warm-to-touch finish.
• Must be looped or be closed. This is stated to prevent clothes from catching.
• For residential buildings, infill rail must be included when the step height exceeds 600mm.
• For commercial buildings, infill rail must be included when the step height exceeds 380mm.
• They must be between 900-1000mm high.
• For public buildings, the building regulations states that the minimum guard rail height for a level platform is 1100mm (Doc K. Page 24. Diagram 3.1. / BS8300-1. Page 42). >>Further Information on Document K & M of the Building Regulations<<
